Preliminary Round of Algeria’s 19th Int’l Quran Begins

IQNA – The preliminary round of Algeria’s 19th international Quran competition began in the country’s capital on Sunday.

 

Organized by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Endowments, the event’s preliminary round will close on Tuesday.

Under the guidance of Youcef Belmehdi, the Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments of Algeria, the competition is taking place at the ministry's headquarters, Al-Shuruq website reported on Monday. 

Participants from various countries are joining virtually through online video calls.

Two experts from Algeria, one from Palestine, and one from Russia constitute the penal of arbiters.

The ministry, in a statement, highlighted that this stage will identify 20 individuals from different nations.

These selected participants will be personally invited to Algeria to partake in the competition.

The event is scheduled during the commemoration of the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) Mi'raj later in the lunar month of Rajab.

Launched in 2004, Algeria’s international Quran contest is held annually on memorization of the Holy Quran with the participation of young people under the age of 25.
