Ceremony Marks Graduation of Sharjah Holy Quran Academy Reciters

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The graduation ceremony of the second batch of the certified Qura'a (Holy Quran reciters) from the Holy Quran Academy in Sharjah, the United Arab Emirates, was held at the Sharjah University City Hall.

The ruler of Shrjah, Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, attended the event on Monday night.

Following recitals of verses from the Holy Quran, Dr Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji, head of the Holy Quran Academy in Sharjah, gave a speech in which he affirmed that the Holy Quran Academy is a global beacon, which is considered — with its scientific departments and international museums — a unique cultural icon and a leading knowledge hub in the United Arab Emirates, and the greatest achievements of the modern era in the service of the Noble Quran and its sciences.

Highlighting the Academy’s latest projects aiming to achieve its lofty visions, Al Tunaiji said that this year witnessed the launch of two long-awaited projects for the Quranic library: the Encyclopedia of Rhetorical Interpretation of the Holy Quran, and writing of separate books on various readings of the Quran.

Concerning the number of authorized and certified reciters and their countries, Al Tunaiji said that the Academy has covered 157 countries and that it now  embraces reciters from all countries of the continents of Africa and South America. He added that on Monday, the Academy celebrates the graduation of the second batch of 303 memorizers and reciters in the various readings of the Quran.

Congratulating the graduates, the head of the Holy Quran Academy asked the graduates to keep the trust they are entrusted with and to be the best ambassadors for Quran in their countries.

After listening to recitations of a number of male and female graduates, Dr. Khalifa Al Tunaiji handed the graduates their certificates, congratulating them on their achievement in obtaining the Quranic certificates and wishing them further success.

The graduation ceremony was attended by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Humaid Al Qasimi, the chairman of Sharjah Department of Statistics and Community Development; Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention; a number of senior officials, heads of local educational and Quranic departments and institutions, a number of scholars, families of graduates, and representatives of the media.
