A delegation from UAE’s Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence held a meeting with students of the School of Information Technology and Systems at the University of Jordan on Tuesday to talk about the scholarship program this week.
Amid the session, students found out that the Israeli Weizmann Institute of Science is also part of the plan, Arabi21 reported.
Immediately, the report added, a number of students and faculty members left the meeting and organized a demonstration inside the university to protest the process of normalization with the occupying regime.
The report also noted that students in a number of other Jordanian universities also protested the intentions of the Emirati delegation. In a statement, students of Hashemite University said that a scheduled meeting with the Emirati delegation had been canceled after discussing the issue with officials.
The occupying regime of Israel has started plans to normalize ties with Muslim countries in the region. The UAE, Bahrain, and Sudan were among the countries that inked the so-called Abraham Accords with the regime, aimed at normalization of ties.
Palestinian groups and people have condemned the normalization as a stab in the back.
