Muslim World Quran Reciters Gather in Riyadh

The first gathering of the Muslim world Qaris opened in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Monday, November 4.


The three-day gathering has been organized by the  Malik Saud University under the patronage of Bandar Bin Abdul Aziz, the Emir of Riyadh region, Al-Riyadh daily reported.



A number of top Quran reciters from Arab and Muslim countries are attending the event, said Muhammad Bin Fuzan Al-Omar, an official with the organizing team.



He said the event’s discussions are concentrated on the major schools of Quran recitation in the Muslim world.



The major Quran recitation (Qara’a) schools in the Muslim world include Yemeni, Saudi, Misri (Egyptian), Iraqi, Turkish, Moroccan, Hindi, and the school of Levant.



Al-Omar added that during the convention, the biography of the prominent Qaris of the last century will also be discussed and leading contemporary Quran reicters will be honored.
