Commonly known as Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza, he has mastery over Quran and Hadith sciences and his oratory skills have made him very popular among Urdu-speaking people, especially the youth, in Pakistan, India and other parts of the world.
Born in 1977 in the city of Jhelum in Pakistan’s Punjab Province, he is an engineer by profession but is very active in religious fields as well.
He tries to explain about the history of Islam and Quran and Hadith sciences and promote the truth.
In line with this objective, he established the Quran and Sunnah Academy in 2012.
There, he holds a weekly class with lessons on Quran interpretation, early Islam’s history, and Hadith. The class attracts people from all social backgrounds.
Muhammad Ali Mirza, who is Sunni, has good relations with a number of Shia scholars in Pakistan.
In 2009, he attended classes held by Syed Thaqib Akbar, head of al-Basira Reacerch Center, which is a Shia institute.
In 2018, he visited the Jamia Urwa-tul-Wusqa in Lahore and met with the head of the Shia seminary, Syed Javad Naqavi, who is among top Shia scholars of Pakistan.
Muhammad Ali Mirza calls for promotion of Islamic unity and tries to contribute to it. He, therefore, disapproves of disuniting moves and invites Muslims to avoid issues that could cause discord among followers of different Islamic schools of thought.
He has also lauded the unifying statements of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.
Meanwhile, Wahhabi and Takfiri groups have been angered by Muhammad Ali Mirza’s efforts to enhance unity instead of working for division.
In recent years, a number of Urdu-speaking Takfiris and Wahhabi sheikhs in Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have intensified their attacks on him, especially in the cyber space.
He has also been the target of assassination attempts, including one in 2017 and one last year.
On March 14, 2021, he survived a second assassination attempt. The attacker visited his Quran academy in Jhelum at weekly meeting and attempted to kill him with a knife while taking a picture with him.
Ali escaped with minor injuries. Police arrested two suspects and registered an FIR against them. The attacker had traveled from Lahore to Jhelum to kill Ali.
