TEHRAN (IQNA) – Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri (1944-2020) can be considered one of the most prominent Muslim scholars who worked in the field of Islamic Unity.

He was born in Iraq’s Najf to an Iranian family on October 19, 1944. He studied religious disciplines in the Iraqi city and years later, the Iraqi Baathist regime expelled him due to his political activities. Taskhiri came to Iran and started lecturing in seminary school of Isfahan.

In 1981, he was appointed as deputy of the International Affairs of the Islamic Development Organization and in 2001 as Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution. He dedicated 12 years of his life to the path of proximity and unity and offered valuable services.

Ayatollah Taskhiri passed away on August 14, 2020, due to a heart disease.
