TEHRAN (IQNA) – Hundreds of Palestinians held Friday prayers in front of the international Red Cross office in Gaza to voice solidarity with male and female Palestinian prisoners.

After the prayers, participants held a rally at the invitation of Palestinian groups to protest the Zionist regime’s crackdown on women prisoners and express solidarity with those who have started a hunger strike in Israeli jails, Maan News reported.

Abdul-Latif al-Qanu, a spokesman of Hamas, said that the solidarity of Palestinians from Gaza to the West Bank with the prisoners shows that the issue is of priority and cannot be neglected.

The resistance of the Palestinian nation will not stop rather it will intensify as far as the Zionist enemy understands that prisoners are a red line and stop its violent behavior, he said.

The Palestinian nation will not remain silent against aggression on female prisoners, he stressed.

Hamas movement accused the Israeli Prison Service of deliberately targeting female prisoners and endangering their lives.

According to prisoners’ advocacy groups Palestinian female prisoners continue to face a wide range of human rights violations in Israeli jails under the watchful eye of the international community.

Israel currently incarcerates some five thousand Palestinian political prisoners including scores of women and children.

Palestinian prisoners are being held in twenty-four Israeli prisons and detention centers under the administration of the Israeli Prison Service.

Many Palestinian prisoners also suffer from chronic illnesses and are denied proper medical treatment.
