A large number of members of Iran’s Quranic community took part in the Quranic event, held at Imam Khomeini (RA) Hosseiniya (religious center) in Tehran on the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.
Several Qaris recited verses from the Holy Quran during the program.
The first Qari was Mokhtar Dehqan, who recently came second in Malaysia’s 60th international Quran competition in Kuala Lumpur. He recited verses from Surah Al Imran and Nasr.
A number of teenage Qaris from different provinces of the country also recited the Quran at the spiritual Quranic session.
It was broadcast live on the Quran TV and the Quran Radio.
The Leader also addressed the gathering, hailing the advent of Ramadan, the month of Quran.
It concluded with congregational prayers led by Ayatollah Khamenei and Iftar (fast breaking).
Such a gathering is held every year on the first day of the holy month in presence of the Leader.
In Iran and many other Muslim countries, the month of fasting began on Thursday.
