TEHRAN (IQNA) – Demonstrators set fire to an Israeli flag in central London on Saturday during ongoing furor in the Muslim world over the installation of electronic security checkpoints at al-Aqsa Mosque in Quds (Jerusalem).

An organization called the Palestinian Forum in Britain (PFB) called for a demonstration "against Israeli aggressions in Jerusalem" outside Israel's embassy in the upscale neighborhood of Kensington.

On the Facebook page for the event, the group called on their followers to picket the embassy because the "Israeli Government has closed Al Aqsa Mosque, imposed tight security check [sic] on worshippers as part of its plans to seize the holy Muslim site," according to i24news.tv.

Turkey's official Anadolu news agency said that hundreds turned out for the protest and shouted slogans such as "Israel is a terror state” and "Hands-off Al-Aqsa”.

A video posted on social media by the video agency Ruptly showed a group of young men laying an Israeli flag on the street and enthusiastically stomping on it while a small contingent of police tried to push them away.

Much larger protests kicked off across the Muslim world on Friday, to coincide with demonstrations in Quds against new Israeli security measures at the holy compound.
